Syria
Intervention in Syria Is a Trap - Daniel Pipes (Washington Times)
Syria's rebels do not need Western help to bring down the regime (and wouldn't be grateful for it if they did receive it, if Iraq is any guide). The Syrian conflict at its core pits the country's disenfranchised Sunni Arab 70% majority against Assad's privileged Alawi 12% minority. Hastening the Assad regime's collapse will not save lives. It will merely mark the close of the opening chapter in the conflict, with yet worse violence likely to follow. As Sunnis finally avenge their nearly 40 years of subjugation by Alawis, a victory by the rebels portends potential genocide.

PA TV music video honors killer of 13  - Itamar Marcus (PMW) Palestinian Authority TV dedicated a program to terrorist Nasser Awais, who is serving 14 life sentences for murder in multiple terror attacks. These include an attack on guests at a Bat-Mitzva celebration and the killing of a baby. Throughout the program, the PA TV moderator refers to Awais as "the heroic fighter" or the "heroic prisoner."

BBC Man Lands New York Times Top Job - Simon Plosker (Honest Reporting) Outgoing BBC director general Mark Thompson has been named president and chief executive of the New York Times. This is the same Mark Thompson who was forced to concede to a UK parliamentary hearing that the BBC had got it wrong over coverage of the Itamar massacre. Indeed, this is the same director general that has overseen a wealth of anti-Israel bias at the BBC since he became director general in 2004.

Regarding Egypt:

Egypt demands extradition of 3 Hamas militants over support for Sinai terrorists - Avi Issacharoff (Ha'aretz/Reuters
Note the headline’s odd terrorist/militant combo: Hamas thugs are militants, while Sinai thugs are terrorists. When Israel’s army responded to Gaza terror in 2009, a staff-ed in The Guardian questioned Israel's place in the family of nations. When Egypt’s army responded to Sinai/Gaza terror this week, a staff-ed in The Guardian praised Mohammed Morsi for “showing he has teeth." Go figure . . . (comments courtesy of Honest Reporting)

On the Olympics:
Can accommodating the request of an Arab team not to share the mat with or be seen by Israelis be regarded as anything other than a form of discrimination based on race, religion or politics? Would it be allowed if it involved any country other than Israel? And shouldn't it be covered by major American news organizations?  MSN and the London Telegraph touched on the story. Note that the Olympic Charter, states: Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement.

Egypt

Mashhur, leader of the Brotherhood in Egypt from 1996 to 2002, explains the movement's religious beliefs and aspirations in detail especially the role of violent jihad in bringing about a world under a unified Islamic Caliphate.
