Outrage of the weekend:  False Equivalence: MSNBC Journalist Ali Velshi Compares Israel to Communist China, Assad’s Syria & Afghanistan Under Taliban Rule  Like most people, Velshi probably never learned about the historical presence of Jews as a sovereign people in the Middle East or why the Jewish population in the land diminished. The result of these omissions is that people falsely think that Arabs, not Jews, are indigenous to the land of Israel. Also, most people are not aware that the name of historical Judea was changed by the Romans to Palestina and that there was no ancient land called “Palestine.” The result is that students falsely believe that Israel is “occupying Palestinian land” to which it has no claim.
