HOSTAGE UPDATE - 791 Days
One Remains,  Ran Gvili who was captured while fighting to save a kibbutz

>The body of Thai hostage Sudthisak who was murdered on October 7 and his body taken into Gaza by Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) for 789 days was returned. During the October 7 Massacre, Hamas terrorists deliberately targeted Thai nationals who were living and working in the Israeli farming communities near the Gaza border. The reason we know that the Thai workers were deliberately targeted and not at the wrong place at the wrong time is that the Hamas terrorists spoke Thai. The Hamas terrorists called out to the workers from Thailand in their native tongue in order to lure them out of hiding, only to kill them or take them hostage. 39 Thai nationals were murdered. 31 were abducted.

The violence and discrimination they faced long predated the modern era. It's important not to exclude the stories of Jews who were displaced from the Middle East and North Africa. Jewish history is part of world history. Exclusion is how hate becomes permissible. Not through violence at first, but through narratives that decide whose pain merits recognition.
