Libya: Where Is the Arab League and the Islamic Conference? - Clifford D. May (National Review) In Libya - and in Yemen, Bahrain, and other Arab countries - Arabs are killing Arabs. Why is no one looking to the Arab League to take responsibility? How did the Arab League's wish become America and Europe's command? Why is it that the Organization of the Islamic Conference feels no obligation to try to put a stop to the violence? More than 50 states belong to the OIC. Perhaps Turkey might at least consider organizing a flotilla to bring aid to Libya?

He wondered why a conversation about radicalization among Muslims like his own son generated so much angst. "It seems to me that the American people are sitting around and doing nothing about Islamic extremism, as if Carlos's story and the other stories told at these hearings aren't true. There is a big elephant in the room, but our society continues not to see it."
Next Panel Must Hear Activists - Abdur-Rahman Muhammad (IPT News)

While crucial for the Libyan people and of some significance to the world’s oil markets, in our view, Libya is not the most important event in the Arab world at the moment. The demonstrations in Bahrain are, in my view, far more significant in their implications for the region and potentially for the world.

At the UN Human Rights Council, the Inmates Are Running the Asylum - Daniel Ayalon (Foreign Policy) The council recently released a lengthy report partly praising Libya's human rights record, and commending the Libyan regime for "the importance that the country attached to human rights."

We learn it because UN Watch in Geneva has been keeping an eye on the list of candidates, squirreled away several layers deep on the UN General Assembly web site.

On the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day -- What Are Feminists Doing About Honor Killings? -  Phyllis Chesler (Fox News) In my view, western academic feminists, including gay liberationists, are so afraid of being condemned as "colonialists" or "racists" that this fear trumps their concern for women's rights in the Arab and Muslim world.
