This column in Fathom is one of the best columns I've seen on how the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is affecting American students and higher education. Please read: Lara Sheehi’s Joyous Rage: Antisemitic Anti-Zionism, Advocacy Academia and Jewish Students’ Nightmares at GWU (Fathom Journal) The American Association of University Professors in 2015 adopted a policy declaring that all faculty member postings on social media should be protected from any professional evaluation or consequences, even if said tweets directly reflect on that faculty's profession. After reading this article, I agree that a professor's and/or administrator's social media accounts and public comments should be considered annotations to his/her syllabus or at the very least reflections on the institution.
